Your Laundry Pro commits to a delivery deadline the moment they accept your order — and in the vast majority of cases, your laundry arrives right on time. Occasionally, though, a deadline may be extended.
When that happens, it's always for one of the approved reasons below, and you'll always be notified through in-app messaging or email, with your updated delivery time shown in your order details.
When your deadline might extend automatically
- Your order weighs more than 100 pounds. Big laundry days happen! Laundry Pros can pre-weigh your order in the app before laundering it, and if it comes in over 100 lbs, they can receive a single 24-hour extension. You'll be notified the moment it's granted.
- Your order has a lot more laundry than you listed. Pros plan their schedule around the bag count on your order. If your pickup comes in well above that (say, 2 bags listed when you placed the order but there are 4 or more out for pickup), a single 24-hour extension may apply. Small differences, like 3 bags listed versus 4 at pickup, don't qualify.
- Tip: If your laundry pile grows between placing your order and pickup, message your Pro directly to confirm they can take on the extra load.
- Severe weather puts safety first. A single 24-hour extension may be granted when the National Weather Service issues an active warning, not just a watch or advisory, in your area or your Pro's area for:
- Hurricane
- Tornado
- Flash flood
- Severe ice storm, snowstorm, or blizzard
- Your Express order weighs over 60 pounds. Express orders over 60 lbs move to Standard service speed. Your deadline shifts to the Standard timeline, and your price adjusts to match. You'll never pay Express pricing for a Standard delivery, and you'll be notified as soon as the change is made.
When you can extend it yourself
- You ask for more time directly. Reach out to Poplin Concierge or message your Pro to request a later delivery date. Your Pro will typically do their best to accommodate, though it isn't guaranteed. If they accept the new date, we can update the order deadline to reflect the new timeline.
- You turn on Flexible Delivery. If you've added Preferred Laundry Pros to an order, you'll see an option during order placement to enable Flexible Delivery. This gives any of your Preferred Pros up to 24 extra hours if their schedule is tight, so you're more likely to land your favorite Pro even when they're busy.
- One important detail: this only applies when a Preferred Pro accepts your order. If a Laundry Pro outside your Preferred List picks it up, your original deadline stands.
What doesn't qualify for an extension
Poplin holds delivery deadlines to a high standard. Laundry Pros cannot receive extensions for personal emergencies, schedule changes, or broken or unavailable equipment. If a Pro is ever unable to finish your order on time, our team can bring in a different Laundry Pro to get your laundry back to you.
If a Laundry Pro asks you directly for more time, that alone doesn't grant an extension. You're always free to decline and ask that your laundry come back on the original schedule.
How will I know if my deadline changes?
- You'll be notified right away through in-app messaging or via an email
- Your updated delivery time appears in your order's details
FAQ
Can I give my Laundry Pro extra time if they ask for it, and I'm okay with it? Absolutely — just make the request on their behalf by contacting Poplin Concierge. For your protection, we only grant these when the request comes directly from you.
My deadline was extended, but I need my laundry sooner. What can I do? Reach out to Poplin Concierge. We're happy to look into your order and see what options are available.
I have a very large order and now my Laundry Pro wants a second extension. What happens? As a general rule, every 100 pounds of laundry can add one extra day to the timeline. For example, if you have a 250 pound order, your Pro will pre-weigh it in the app to give you a heads up about its size, and we'll give your Pro up to two separate 24-hour extensions, applied to the order one day at a time, as necessary.
There's bad weather in my area. Will my order be delayed? Only if the National Weather Service has issued an active Severe Weather Warning (hurricane, tornado, flash flood, or winter storm) in your area or your Laundry Pro's area. Otherwise, your original deadline stands. Everyday rough weather for your region doesn't trigger an extension.
